I have so, so, SO much to share and only a few minutes before Game of Thrones, so I’m going to zip through the past few days.
The past week has been an absolute blur! Last Monday I ended up driving 7 hours from Burlington, Vt., to Baltimore after my flight was canceled. It wasn’t a bad ride, just long, exhausting and unexpected.
Needless to say, it pretty much killed Monday for me. My day was filled with travel and family catch-up time since I was away for the weekend to run the Half Marathon.
Tuesday and Wednesday were jam-packed with work. I had a bunch of stuff to get done before The Husband and I left for our annual anniversary trip.
Every year we try to do something that’s just the two of us. We started this tradition a few years ago and it’s done wonders for our marriage — click here to see some past trips.
This year we were hoping to road-trip it to Boulder, but truth be told, we just didn’t have enough money. Instead I used some Hyatt points we saved up and got a few free nights at a nearby hotel on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I’ll post more about it on The Unworldly Travelers when I can steal a few hours this week.
Today it was time to check out and head back home. I started the day with a 2.5-mile run around the resort. It was gorgeous!
Afterwards we checked out and hit a diner for breakfast on the drive home.
We got home a little after lunch and caught up with the kids. This guy was all about the cuddling.
The older one tried to give off the appearance he couldn’t care less we were home, but as soon and Grandma and Grandpa left he talked my ear off. It was sweet.
Later in the afternoon The Husband cut the grass while I experimented in the kitchen making hot sauce.
Weird, I know, but I’ve been wanting to do this for weeks and I finally just did it. Cooking for me is very therapeutic and relaxing.
Once The Husband was done he played with the boys while I went grocery shopping.
When I got home I made some wings for dinner and cooked a ton of boneless chicken breasts to have ready lunches for the week.
The habanero sauce came out fantastic and it was fabulous having dinner with the family after the weekend away.
The kids are now in bed, I have a beer in hand (we brought home some microbrews from Cambridge) and it’s Game of Thrones time. I can’t think of a better way to end this fabulous weekend.
