2 Sick Kids and a Metronome

It’s never a good day when BOTH kids are home sick. The 10-Year-Old has some kind of virus and the 5-Year-Old is sporting the latest in pre-k style: pink eyes.

I took both to the doctors first thing and then we camped out all morning. One kid in bed, one watching movies and me on my laptop getting some writing done for a client. We made it work.

Speaking of work, I have some news on that front. I accepted a consulting position doing multimedia development (what I did in my past, pre-blogging life) and will be reducing my hours at the gym.  Working at a gym is fun and I love that I have the opportunity to contribute to a community I care deeply about but it’s not what I want to do full time. At least not right now.

So I’ll  be transitioning to more geek work over the next few weeks and I’m excited about it. I know it sounds crazy but I miss working on the computer. I miss problem solving and working more in a business environment. I’m excited as I have felt a little lost in the career area of my life ever since I sold the conference.

On the “healthy living” front I’m feeling a little lost, too. I’m still hitting the gym daily but my diet could be better and I’ve been eating out so much more than I want to be. Sometimes I’m still torn between wanting to eat more intuitively and trust myself but then feeling I need the accountability of a food journal.  I successfully cut ties with the scale but I’m still struggling slightly in the food area. It definitely ebbs and flows for me and I’m just not motivated right now.

I am, however, totally motivated to practice my guitar! I’ve been hitting 120 on my metronome practice more and more.

Basically that means I’m getting better at changing chords. I can’t explain how satisfying it is to make progress with this.

Ok, that’s all I got today, 2 sick kids and a metronome. It’s time for me to go to bed. Actually, it’s time for me to shower and then go to bed. Somehow, like when I had infants, showers are becoming a hot commodity again.
